Account Creation

Creating an account on BrowChat is completely seamless and secure. We use Google OAuth for authentication, meaning you do not need to create or remember a separate password for BrowChat.

Simply click the "Sign in with Google" button in the extension popup. We only request basic profile information (Name, Email, and Profile Picture) to set up your identity in the chat rooms.

Account Deletion

You have the right to completely delete your account and all associated data at any time.

To delete your account: Open the BrowChat extension > Go to Settings > Account > Click "Delete Account". Once confirmed, all your messages, profile data, and history will be permanently wiped from our servers.

Privacy

We take your privacy seriously. BrowChat only reads the URL of the current active tab when you open the extension popup to connect you to the right chat room.

We do not track your browsing history across the web in the background. We never sell your personal data or chat messages to third parties.

Security

All communication between the Chrome Extension and our servers is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS (HTTPS and Secure WebSockets).

Authentication is handled via JWT (JSON Web Tokens). Our backend is built on robust ASP.NET Core security frameworks, ensuring your sessions are strictly isolated and protected.

Warnings & Guidelines

Do Not Share Sensitive Data: Public URL chat rooms are accessible by anyone visiting that URL. Never share passwords, credit card numbers, or personally identifiable information.

Respectful Behavior: Harassment, hate speech, or spamming is strictly prohibited. Users found violating these rules will have their accounts permanently banned from the BrowChat network.
